You tell that rabbit he can keep his foot.
from where I stood it didn't do him that much good.
You tell Judas he can keep his kiss,
and all those loyal lies that dripped from his lips.
You tell that ocean she can keep her waves,
I'm about as likely to ever change my ways.
You tell those girls they can keep their love,
held like a weapon deep in the cut.
You tell my friends I've had enough,
Ain't got no money, love, or luck.
Got no money, love, or luck
You tell that rabbit he can keep his foot,
from where I stood it didn't do him that much good.

Alabama Autumn Skies

She's building castles out of playing cards
so intricately designed
and i know that she truly believes
somehow we all shall still survive
but when the wind blows in and there's devastation
there'll be no one less surprised.
and yet i always wish to hell
that this is the time I won’t be right
no matter where we're going
the past is just a few short steps behind
and i've done so many wrongs
run out of ways to hide
but on alabama autumn nights
you can see every star in the sky
i'm tired, girl, i'm tired
tired of all the turbulence
wasting all these empty nights
wondering how things might have went
i've done so many wrongs
and told so many lies
everywhere just setting fires
always making it out the other side
but on alabama autumn nights
you can see every star in the sky
It's hard and it fast
and its a long way to fall
the truth is,
i haven't got no wings at all
she goes walking backwards
taking her leave of time,
she's reimagining whole histories
how it suits her thorny mind
even the crooked path
got devils walking right in line,
when its done, and there's devastation,
i'll be left holding on to mine
there's stains that you can't shake
no matter what you try
when you turned over every stone
theres no where left to hide
but on alabama autumn nights
you can see every star in the sky.

At play in the fields
behind castles of steel
the concrete's all crumbled away
the crossroads are calling
children are crawling
then walking, then running away
through a wall of fire and smoke
hot air burnt my throat
and I returned to the home
that had thrown me away
